Do you have to already know how to play the piano to take ap music theory?
I played the viola and violin in middle school in 6-8th grades, i was 1st chair in the viola section, but the violin was just private lessons at home, i also took private lessons for the guitar for 2 years(6th-7th). I am in 9th grade now and planning to take ap music theory in 12th, but do i need to learn the piano, or can i just advance in the viola, violin and guitar so by 12th grade i would have 7 years of experience in all 3 instruments. I got accepted in one of the cal state northridge university orchestras for the viola.
