I want a piano with weighted piano keys, is it a good idea?

My dad got me a long awaited present of a piano, but he got me a digital keyboard that has keys which are not wieghted, they feel cheap and light as a feather when I push them down. I felt bad saying anything negative about my present but I had to point out the keys. He claims that most piano musicians use these kinds of pianos, the ones with non-weighted keys. Is that true? I used to play piano when I was 8 years old and it was on a piano with weighted keys, I feel I would enjoy it much more if I could go back to playing like that.

I am thinking of selling this one and getting another digital piano but with weighted keys, am I being too picky or stupid? I feel bad for my dad, but, I think he will be happy if he knows I am happier.

Yamaha CP300 88 keys, the hammer action on the keys is awesome just like a real piano, sound is excellent but its $2,179.00 according to the local music store in my town. This is the one for me, check it out, SERIOUSLY!!!
